FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Dearborn Park property sold by HausZwei Homes to City of Decatur
Decatur, GA – Kevin Polite, owner of HausZwei Homes and Lead Coordinator for Friends of Dearborn Park, assembled and sold 611 and 615 Chevelle Lane, Decatur, Ga 30030 to the City of Decatur. Terms of the contract were sealed. This land is located in Dearborn Park and is part of the assemblage by the City of Decatur for their Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Master Plan in Dearborn Park.
The property on Chevelle is not part of the lawsuit and potential eminent domain to be taken by the City of Decatur against Redwater, LLC. This area is adjacent to the dirt path developed by Friends of Dearborn Park, in partnership with DeKalb County Parks & Rec, Park Pride and various stakeholders. Though the ownership of the greenspace is held by the City of Decatur, it is currently managed by DeKalb County. Peggy Merriss she “was thrilled the City is able to add this to our greenspace.”
Friends of Dearborn Park was formed in 2007. Over the course of 11 years, Kevin Polite said, their main objective has shifted from clearing the green space of trash, invasive ivy and plants to developing a path to a point now where you could actually walk in the area. Friends of Dearborn Park is now maintaining all the improvements they have improved Dearborn Park. Several times a year our projects were clearing invasive species, cutting down and pulling up ivy and clearing out trash including old tires, etc. Now we have added a Little Free Library, painted the railings and planted beautiful shrubbery along the edges of the park thanks to our largest sponsor HausZwei Homes
